On Monday, BBC News reported figures from the Home Office which said a total of 933 migrants crossed the Channel in small boats in January.
Guardiola said: “People who have to do that, run away from their countries, go to sea and then get on a boat to be saved – don’t ask if he’s right or wrong, save him. It’s about a person.
“After we come to an agreement, criticize but everything is right, everyone has an idea and you have to express it. People are dying, you have to help them. Protecting people and human life is all we have.”
Last month, two US citizens were shot dead by federal agents who were enforcing US President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis last month.
Fan group Football Supporters Europe (FSE) said it was “deeply concerned by the ongoing militarization of US police forces” ahead of this summer’s World Cup in North America.
Guardiola added: “When I see the images, I’m sorry it hurts. So in every position I can help speak to make society better, I’ll try and be there. All the time.
“From my point of view, the justice? You have to talk. If it doesn’t continue. Look at what happened in the United States of America, Renee Good and Alex Pretti were killed. Tell me how you can defend that?
“There is no perfect society, no one is perfect, I am not perfect, we have to work to be better.”
