The UK reform was taken from a BBC documentary about the Party amid the broadcaster’s editing of a speech by Donald Trump.
The film, which is called the rise of reform and presented by Laura Kuenssberg, was made by an independent production company in October.
The company was involved in a documentary on the panorama that led to the resignation of two of the most senior executives of the BBC, Tim Davie, and Debora Treessness, the Chief Executive of News.
The US president has since said that the BBC “deceived the public” and that he had an “obligation” to show the motivation for the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
October Films is not responsible for this editing, which was carried out by BBC staff.
In an internal email, reform members were urged to “respectfully reduce participation” in the film about the Party, which was due to the film’s cancellation.
The memo said: “We want to be clear that the October films have always conducted themselves professionally, and there is no suggestion from our side that they are a bad way to reform the UK.
“However, after the panorama documentary trust was lost, and both the BBC and the production company had to do a lot of hard work to regain trust.”
Trump repeated his threat to launch a billion legal action in an interview with FOX News. He said: “I think I have an obligation to do it, you can’t allow people to do that. I guess I have to. They defrauded the public and they’ve admitted it. This is within one of our great allies, supposedly our great ally.
“That’s a pretty sad event. They actually changed my January 6 speech, which was a beautiful speech, which was a very calming speech, and they made it sound radical. They showed me the results of how they butchered it up. It was very dishonest and the head man quit and a lot of the other people quit.”
A legal letter sent on behalf of the US president demanded that the “false, inflammatory, defamatory, and inflammatory statements” be destroyed immediately.
After the newsletter promotion
The letter said if the BBC did not comply, Trump would be “left with no alternative but to enforce his legal and equitable rights to file for 1,000,000 dollars in damages”.
Keir Starmer has not spoken to Trump about his threatened legal action, downplayed in the streets.
Trump’s comments come ahead of a process to review the BBC’s charter. The Home Secretary, Lisa Nandy, said the BBC needed to “renew its mission for the modern age” and warned MPs criticizing the broadcaster to “think about what’s at stake”.
He said the review would ensure the BBC is “fiercely independent” and “genuinely accountable” to the public it serves.
