Seven men charged in investigation of child sexual exploitation | UK News

Seven men have been charged with alleged offenses against 11 teenage girls as part of an investigation into the so-called sexual exploitation of police officers in Bristol.

The men were accused of more than 40 offenses between 2022 and 2025. The investigation began in November 2023 following concerns that a teenage girl was being exploited.

The men appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court on Wednesday. The girls were in their mid-late teens at the time of the alleged offenses.

Avon and Somerset Police People Say:

  • Mohamed Arafe, 19, of Speedwell in Bristol. He was charged with five counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of sexual assault of a child and one count of sexual assault with the supply of cocaine and one count of aggravated assault with the supply of cocaine.

  • Saya Omari, 20, of Bristol’s fishponds. He was charged with two counts of rape, four counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of causing a sexual photograph of a child and one count of causing a sexual photograph of a child and one count of causing a sexual photograph of a child and one count of causing a sexual photograph of a child and one count of causing a sexual photograph of a child and one count of causing the a sexual photograph of a child and a cause of making a sexual photograph of a child and a cause of making a sexual photograph of a child and a cause of making a sexual photograph of a child and a cause of making an indecent photograph of a child and a cause of supply to a child and a cause related to the supply of cocaine.

  • Wadie Sharaf, 21, of Redland in Bristol. He was charged with one count of rape, one count of attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault, and an additional count of sexual activity on a child.

  • Huses Bashar, 19, of Southmead in Bristol. He was charged with one count of rape.

  • Mohammed Kurdi, 21, of Henbury in Bristol. He was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of supplying ecstasy and a further supply of cannabis.

  • A 19-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with four counts of rape, one of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, one of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and a further count of being concerned in the supply of ecstasy.

  • A 26-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

DCI Tom Herbert, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “This remains a complex and sensitive investigation with the protection of young women from exploitation at its heart.”

Supt Deepak Kenth said: “Working with our partner agencies, doing events in the City centre, and other businesses in hotels, and other businesses taking advantage and should report any concerns or issues to the police.”
