Ryanair Scraps Printed Boarding Passes to Go Fully Digital

Posted in

Passengers who present printed boarding passes at airports will no longer be accepted on Ryanair flights, the company has announced.

One of Europe’s biggest budgets says it will “switch to 100% Digital Boarding Passes” from Wednesday in a bid to speed up travel and reduce costs.

It said that all customers must check in online before arriving at the airport, adding that 90% of the 200 million passengers have already done so and use the digital boarding pass.

Those who fail to check in online before their flight must pay an airport fee of up to £55, the airline confirmed.

However, customers who check in online but cannot access their boarding pass on their smart phone will receive it for free at the airport – previously there was a £20 charge.

Ryanair says the change will make things more efficient and lower flying costs for customers, as well as being more environmentally friendly.
