Posted in

Only drivers of drivers can book test drives while the plans are aimed at reducing waiting lists and preventing slots that are sold at discounted prices.

The Secretary of Transport said that third parties are limited from the reselling of slots and to stop people being “exploited” by online votes.

But Heidi Alexander told MPS on the Transport Committee that waiting times for driving tests will not be carried out for seven weeks in summer 2026.

He said that the government as well as changing the law on who can book tests, investigators from the Ministry of Defense will be brought in to test the backlog.

The department for Transport said that defense defense examiners will be brought in to conduct tests one day a year.

The recruitment of 316 new investigators resulted in a net gain of only 40, as the rest of the others.

Ms Alexander also said a limit would be placed on the number of times a driver could move or move a test, and the area they could move a test.

In April, BBC verification found that the average waiting time Across 319 test driving centers in Great Britain 22 weeks, with three quarters of centers hitting the longest waiting time of 24 weeks.
