Sidneded’s Standards Committee made the recommendation of a two-week suspension following a lengthy investigation into Sidded’s standards by Sidand’s Standards Commissioner, Douglas Bain.
He was asked to consider three sets of allegations against Laura Anne Jones, including a complaint that she made a racist comment and failed to respond to discriminatory behavior.
Jones, who represents South Wales Wales East in Cardiff Bay, was a Conservative member for Sidedd (MS) at the time of the allegations.
Mr. Wain learned in August 2023 Jones had said “There’s no space for me”, in a Whatsapp group of which he and the complainant were members.
The committee’s report, leaked to BBC Wales hours before this Official PublicationIt was noted that the comment was made in response to a discussion about Tiktok at a time when there was public concern that the Chinese government had used the app to collect the app.
The committee also said Jones “accepted that his post was ‘completely inappropriate and unacceptable’ and apologized for it”.
Mr Bain also found that in a WhatsApp exchange with a former employee in August 2023, Jones referred to an ex-staffer as “a “bitter, twisted person”.
“I tried to be understanding,” he wrote.
“I’m still asking if he has adhd or something and if he needs more support… cos something is wrong with him!?
The former employee involved in the conversation also called the individual politician criticized a “grade a prick”.
In a message on 13 November 2023 the same employee Jones addressed the above message posted in a whatsapp exchange: “SUELLA [Braverman, former home secretary] what he said is also right. We have two tiers of policing. It was clear at the end of the week if you’re white working class you’ve got it, if you’re an islamist everything you want is fine. “
The Standards Committee said Jones accepted the post was “unacceptable” but failed to reprimand staff.
In light of the commissioner’s findings, the committee said Jones broke several rules from the code of the code of the code of the Coded Member and said his conduct “fell below the standards expected”.
“It points to an office culture where there is no respect for others or any consideration of what may be found offensive.”
However, the committee also concluded that Jones “suffered from poor physical and mental health” at the time of some of the reported comments.

The target is to vote on the recommendation of a 14-day ban next week.
A Plaid Cymru Spokesperson said the language used by Jones was “offensive and unappealing to anyone, especially those who are elected to represent our communities in our national parliament”.
“The fact that the reform accepted the separation of the member following this information coming to light tells us everything you need to know about the Party, whose divisive rhetoric only serves to pit our communities against each other.”
Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds Makes Corresponding Criticism of Jones and Reform UK.
“If reform wanted them to be a serious party in Wales, they would have gone further than the studied standards committee and fired him altogether,” he said.
Mr Bain too investigated an allegation that Jones assigned a staff member with false expense claims for mileage.
The complaints were forwarded to the police who found no evidence of fraud.
The politician said that he “instructed the complainant to use all available records to ensure that he has all the trips that can be made correctly”.
The committee found that “on balance [Mr Bain] Satisfied that the member’s version of events is ‘highly unlikely to be the correct one’ “and therefore he did not see that Jones made the fraudulent claims.
Jones converted money that was improperly claimed in his name, the report said.
Mr Bain’s findings, which were leaked to BBC Wales in September, followed a row after he said he was “not impressed” with the complaint.
He also said the complainant raised concerns of “retaliation” following her termination from Laura Anne Jone Jone Jone’s employment.
Which was rejected by the complainant who criticized the way Mr. Sa handled the complaint.
In its report the standards committee said it noted “representations from the complainant about the procedure of the neurodiringi commissioner”.
The committee added that it had raised the concerns of the Commissioner.
What did Laura Anne Jones say?
Responding to the report, Jones said: “I am pleased to finally be cleared of any wrongdoing related to the malicious accusation of fraudulent activity of fraudulent activity of fraudulent activity.
“Now I look forward to drawing a line under it after almost two years of being beaten up over it, and the devastating effect it has had on me and my young family.
“I apologize, and I apologize again, for the sad comments I made in a private message. I never meant to offend anyone.
“I want to thank the police and standards commissioner for their thorough investigation, and I accept their conclusions.”
A reform UK Wales spokesperson added that “Laura has rightly apologized for her comments” and she “has made a clear effort to make amends for these comments”.
But he added “it is clear that there is a serious issue with two-tier policing in this country, and no politician has been banned from our national parliament for discussing it”.
