A ferry company has apologized after children were left “screaming” when a filographic film was played on one of its ships from France to Sussex.
The DFD said it was “deeply sorry” for the incident, which happened on a ferry from Dieppe in France to Newhaven.
It is said that an “adult film” was broadcast on the television in the lounge of passengers who were watching a formula a passenger described as “hardcore porn”.
A spokesman said the incident occurred during a delay, when the ferry was turned back to France due to a technical fault at Newhaven Port.
A group of passengers asked if they could watch the Grand Prix on TV in the onboard lounges, and the film playing the race.
DFDS said the crew were not aware the film was due to be broadcast, adding: “At the time the crew was informed of the content.”
It is said that the channel has since been removed from the list of available stations on the boat, saying: “It is no longer slow. I am very sorry to understand that it is angry and upset.”
Speaking to Brighton’s Argus newspaper, a passenger, who wished to remain anonymous, described the incident – which happened at the end of October – as “pretty crazy”.
They told the paper: “Suddenly, the children ran out of the Lounger area of the Recliner screaming. Some parents were working there to count the TV, they said: ‘There is hardcore porn on TV.’ I can’t see it, but hear it. “
The passenger said a staff member turned off the television. They added: “It’s a bit crazy. I don’t know how it got there. It’s a complete mess at the ferry crossing.”
