Plans to demolish a building featured in Netflix Drama Dept Q have been put forward by Edinburgh city council.
The Argyle house could be replaced by a “mixed-use” development with a hotel, residential property, offices and winter space.
The Brutalist 1960s Block, in the West Port in the shadows of Edinburgh Castle, was used for the exterior shots of the Police station in the Streaming Giant’s Series.
Public consultations on the proposals are due to be held in December and January.
A proposed application notice (pan) submitted to the local authority outlines plans for “demolition of the existing building and development of the site”.
Argyle House, built between 1966 and 1969, is often cited as one of Edinburgh’s least attractive pieces of architecture.
The block was sold to us firm PGIM Real Estate for around £38m ($47m) in 2023.
It was originally built to house local and national government offices, but now houses a variety of different companies.
The front of the building is also the headquarters of the fictional police poice force in the ITV series, written by Irvine Welsh.
While the rear Annexe, on Jousston Terrace, is home to the tech workspace cenerebase and used by Dept Qwhich Netflix told earlier this year.
It was originally set in Copenhagen and based on the books by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen, but the location was moved to Edinburgh before it made the jump to the small screen.
In August, Netflix announced the series that follows Mateo Goode Cold Ceat Department Leader DCI CARL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL MORL will return for a second season.
