The Flamingo that disappeared from Cornwall Park has been found in France

A flamingo that disappeared from a wildlife sanctuary in Cornwall a week ago has now been found living in northern France.

Two photos show a young flamingo on a beach in Treflez, FinIStere, on Sunday morning.

Frankie escaped from a warled garden in the park on Sunday 2 November, despite being pointed at the feathers.

The director of the Paraiso Park, Nick Reynolds, said that there is a colony of flamingos in the south of France and “the best scenario is to go to them and find his life with them”.

Mr Reynolds said: “We’re pretty sure it’s Frankie from the pictures we’ve seen.

“You can see the right wing has some feathers missing, which is where we’re going to clip his wings to keep him here.

“We’re just waiting for some more photos to come in for better confirmation.”

Mr Reynolds added that it had been a “very difficult” week since the flamingo went missing but saw the new photos as “beautiful”.

“He looks good and good, which is great,” Mr. Reynolds said.

He said it was well within the flamingo’s long-range capabilities, though “no mean feat”.

He said the paperwork and complexity of bird flu regulations would make it Rehome Frankie in the UK and he hoped he found a flamingo colony in southern France.

Frankie was born in July and was the first chicken to hatch from her nest and was raised by her parents at the park.

Mr. Reynolds asked anyone who saw him to send photos and locations to the team via the Paraiso Park Facebook Account.

“He is still our child and we want to know what happened to him,” he said.
