A railroad worker credited with saving many lives during a mass struck by a train wakes up in the hospital and talks to his wife for the first time.

Samir Zitouni, 48, is a member of Catering Crew in Doncaster at King’s Cross Service On 1 November when an attacker was struck passing through Cambridgeshire.

The actions of the crew member – who suffered serious injuries – were described as “nothing short of heroic” by the British Transport Police (BTP).

A Go Fund Me Page, which approved the approval of the Zitouni family, that on Friday “his wife shared the beautiful news in a sudden time, and he spoke to her for a short time”.

Last week, BTP said Mr Zitouni remained “critically unwell” but stable at AddenBrooke’s hospital in Cambridge.

He was one of 11 people treated for injuries in the attack at 18:25 GMT LNER IN the evening.

A People’s Page set up by Gemma Royce – who says she works with him – has even raised £50,000 to help Mr Zitouni’s family.

Sharing the news that Mr Zitouni – known as Sam – had been able to speak to his wife for a short time, Ms Royce wrote: “This is a really positive step forward in his recovery.

“Thank you all for continuing to keep Sam and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

“Your kindness means the world to them.”

Ms Royce said other charity volunteers were helping to raise funds.

Mr. Zitoununi has worked for LNER for over 20 years.

David Horne, Lner’s managing director, said last week: “In a time of crisis, Sam does not hesitate as he continues to protect those around him.”

Thought mr zitouni Suspect “blocked” from stabbing a girlleaving him with a gash on his head and neck.

In a statement from the family shared on Thursday’s People page, his wife wrote: “Sam acted as a shield to protect his beloved son.

“This is who Sam is – he will do the same for anyone, regardless of color, age, gender, religion, or origin, even for those he doesn’t know.

“Sam is our hero.”

Passengers on the train said that a man parked with a knife started to torture people after it passed PETROOOOUS.

The driver brought the train to an emergency stop at Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

Anthony Williams, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder in relation to the train attacks and one count of attempted murder in an alleged attack in London.

He is due to appear at Cambridge Colerd Court on 1 December.
