Igor Thiago (Bruntford): He was very good, doing very well for Brentford and also did in the win at Newcastle. Many goals are many goals but also not satisfied for the team, put his body on the line. A proper center forward. He signed a few years ago and got time to recover from the injury, but with Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo he has lost the gap. Kudos to Bruntford for continuing to keep them at bay.
EMI Buendia (Aston Villa): Someone is coming back from a long injury, starting to find his feet. We thought he might be on his way out but he looked much better for Villa, another goal and a lovely free kick. He has developed into a top-class player and is an important one for Villa.
Jeremy Doku (Manchester City): The weekend man. Everyone was talking about Connor Bradley against Vinicius Junior in midweek but he put bradley to bed like he’s never played football before. He was very good – he was on toast and the finish was beautiful. He also won a penalty that people will forget because he missed it on the spur of the moment, but he was a thorn in Liverpool’s side.
