It was the first time Garnacho had two Premier League assists in the same game, coming in his 99th appearance in the competition.
However, it took time for Garnachto to play well for Chelsea, who were left under a cloud at the old Trafford.
Garnacho was exiled by United manager Ruben Amorim’s so-called ‘bomb squad’ and negotiations over his £40m move were completed in the final days of the transfer window.
That absence from competitive action left Garnacho out of form on arrival at Stamford Bridge, without a goal or assist in his first six matches.
However, Garnacho is delivering now, with two goals and two assists in his most recent matches.
When asked about Garnacho after the game, Maresca said: “He has an open mind since we started small and is very good on the left side.”
The advice of Garnacho with an attractive main form from the youth is a simple one.
His prospects at Chelsea depend on him following through.
“Work hard – this was the main message when he was with us,” said Maresca. “In terms of the quality of the ball we know he is good; to play with us he has to work hard.
“With the ball he does well, but also with the ball he works hard.”
