A woman is in a critical condition after she was stabbed in the neck in what police believe was “an unprovoked attack”.
West Midlands police were called to Syrybrook QueSway, in Birmingham city center just before 9pm on Friday following reports of an explosion.
The woman in her 30s suffered a “serious neck injury” and remains in hospital. The police arrested a man of about age, and he is in custody.
Di James Nix said: “We believe this is an unprecedented attack and are seeking to understand why it happened.
“We have officers in place now to continue our investigation and provide reassurance.
“We are not currently looking for anyone in connection with this incident.”
The force added: “Our officers are on the scene carrying out inquiries as we try to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”
