Authorities are investigating a new field video that suggests a woman was hit by a woman while driving in the suburbs of Zion, Illinois, on Monday night in the Tiktok crash.

The video in question was reportedly taken by a user in Zion, and it shows a woman behind the wheel of a car reacting to a loud thud by saying, “Fuck, fuck, fuck … I just hit somebody.”

According to LAKE and MCHENRY CoUVERY SCANNERwhich was first reported in the video, Zion Police Department Investigation Commander, Lt Paul Kehrli, As Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in Monday’s crash, and the driver involved — a 43-year-old woman — remained at the scene to speak with authorities.

The Lake County State’s Office told the Scanner on Friday afternoon that the agency is aware of the video but will not comment further due to a pending investigation. The Office stopped short of identifying exactly who the agency knew about the video.

Studies over the years have linked cellphone use while driving to an increased potential for serious crashes — or worse.

The user also said that the person driving while on Tiktok “wasn’t paying attention to the road because he was reading comments and smiling on his phone”.

“A man died because he wanted attention from a livestream,” the Reddit User also wrote.

Monday’s crash happened around 5.30pm, police said. Darren Lucas, 59, of nearby Peke Beach, was incapacitated after being hit, and was later pronounced dead from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, the local coroner’s office said in a statement.

Lucas’ son, Chris Hari, told Lake Scanner and McEnry County’s video news made his family “hold our loss even more deeply in our hearts”.

“We … will continue to pray for the driver’s passing,” King said. “We are trying to find our ways to survive, without someone we love very much.”
