The Vesias’ are expecting the birth of their first child in the Team’s Postseason Run, the major league baseball shared in a post on its website.
The team has previously shared public updates on Vesia’s absence, saying they want to give him the space he needs.
“We just don’t want to have any potential for any kind of pressure. It’s too big in baseball,” Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said before the series. “For us, doing whatever little part we can is 100% supportive.”
By the third game of the series, the pitchers who filled the vesias honored him by writing his Jersey Number, 51, on their caps. In a show of unity, the blue Jays pitchers started doing the same in the sixth game.

In their Instagram post, Vesias thanked the Dodgers for understanding and supporting them during their time of grief. They also expressed their gratitude to the blue jays and all baseball fans, as well as the medical staff at Los Angeles Hospital Sinai.
