The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has agreed to a resolution to submit a formal motion to UEFA urging it to ban Israel from European club and international competition.

The Governing Body’s resolution – proposed by Dublin Club Bohemian – cited violations by the Israel Football Association (IFA) of two provisions of UEFA laws. They are the alleged failure to implement and implement an effective anti-racism policy and the organization of clubs in the Palestinian territories without the permission of FAlesinian FA.

The resolution was supported by 74 votes, with seven abstentions and two abstentions, the FAI said in a statement. UEFA has yet to comment on the vote.

UEFA halted plans to ban Israel from European Football at the end of September after the announcement of Donald Trump’s proposed plan for the region. UEFA has not confirmed that it is considering an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee to vote on the issue, but plans for the proposal are understood to be well developed, with any meeting expected to be called at short notice.

The National Broadcaster of Ireland, said that the statement of the FAI said: “In an extraordinary general meeting of Ireland in Ireland, a majority resolution of the majority – 74 in favor, seven against, two against two.

Rté added that the FAI said that it intends to “submit a formal motion to the UEFA Executive Committee targeting UEFA football competitions because of these independent provisions of UEFA because of these independent provisions of UEFA competitions of UEFA competitions of UEFA of the ITEFA provisions of UEFA PRODUCTION OF UEFA COMPISIONS”.

It goes on to list them as the “organization of clubs in illegal settlements of the West Bank Business without the permission of the Palestinian Footute (article 5)” and “Article 5)” and “Article of the UEFA Policy

Ireland’s resolution follows calls in September from the heads of the Turkish and Norwegian governing bodies for Israel to be suspended from international competition. Those requests came after United Nations experts asked FIFA and UEFA to suspend Israel from international football, based on a comment questioning the Gaza War. Israel denies committing genocide and describes the report as shocking.

If Uefa decides to ban Israel, it will put the organization on a collision course with the United States Government – Co-host for the 2026 World Cup hosts – which strongly opposes such an action. Although the European Governing Body has the power to suspend Israel or its clubs from regional competitions, they may not be able to prevent World Cup competitions, which FIFA has pointed out.
