A senior Police officer has been accused of using sex workers while on duty amid a major ethics investigation, the Guardian can reveal.

Britain’s biggest police force has been described as “Institutionally Mayogynistic” after widespread claims it allowed a “toxic sexist culture to flourish for decades.

Imran Patel resigned from his job as a chastity constable last year after several reports about his conduct on the job in nine months. He was also subject to a bye-law investigation, but was told he would not face criminal prosecution.

He was accused of using sex works and accessing adult websites while moving in May 2022, as former maid Louise Casey made a strong review and culture of strength.

Patel is also accused of committing fraud and abusing his position as an official by obtaining a driver’s license and money from a member of the public in August 2021.

In March 2022, a stab vest was said to have been found in his residence “without any consent or reasonable justification”.

The investigation into Patel was led by the IOPC, following a referral from the anti-corruption unit.

A spokesman for the IOPC said: “We investigated the officer in charge of an allegation of theft but, in January 2024, decided not to reult the case with the crown prosecution service.”

Meet said Patel left the force in July last year. Despite his release, he will face a full misconduct hearing in January.
