While Chelsea remain unbeaten at the start of the 2025-26 campaign and sit atop the WSL table, Arsenal are not so lucky.

The Gunners’ hopes of a title charge suffered an early blow to a defeat at Manchester City and draws against Manchester United and Aston Vandil.

Those results left Chelsea with five points and a defeat on Saturday would surely end their dreams of winning a first league title since 2019.

While they have endured a torrid start to the season, the squad has strengthened over the summer and the club have a deeper squad to challenge the reigning champions.

Arsenal will also build confidence from their victorious league supporters at the end of the season, when they beat the eight-time winners and favorites for a trophy that has yet to win a trophy.

Former Gunner Jen Beattie says Arsenal have the players to cause Chelsea problems.

“I think they have more than enough quality in their squad [win]”he told the women’s football week of the week.

“We’ve seen that in the past kind of 12-month course – if they get it right.”

Arms will also know that Bompastor’s side are looking far from unstoppable this season.

The Blues overcame a slow start to beat Aston Villa and looked past Leicester, as they dropped points to a surprise Dutch side Chiass League Oper.

Describing Chelsea’s unbeaten run as “ridiculous” Old England striker Ellen White added: “It’s a real challenge for Arsenal and I think it’s a good time for them.

“They have to put everything together now and they have to work and improve and improve their season.”

But if the Gunners fail to pick up any points on Saturday, White says the title, which they last won in 2019, will be “out of reach” again.
