Benjamin Sesko: Man Utd Stryr should not criticize personally - Amorim

Manchester United Head Coach Ruben Amorim has welcomed £73.7m striker Benjamin Sesko’s struggles in his first few weeks at the club to the club’s legends personally.

Sesko scored two goals in his first 11 appearances for the combine.

He last found the net against Sunderland at Old Trafford on 4 October and his performance in Slovenam ForeDle prompted New Skipper Gary Neville to “compare these arrivals to Slovene

Amorim accepted there was an element of Neville’s comments. However, he also felt he lacked the context of Sesko moving to a new league at the age of 22, having spent two seasons in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

“I’m relaxed,” he said. “[But] He is not relaxed.

“I understand how things are in football and he will struggle. That’s normal. He has no experience here.

“The first effect [is] When everyone says you’re great, you’re the next big thing and you feel that about Sesko.

“Then you arrive at a club that is the most difficult club. If you don’t do it every week, you hear a lot of things from the legends of the club, from the pundits, from the media – and sometimes they are right.

“Of course, no one likes to hear but he struggles a little, and that’s a fact. So, keep it.

“It’s hard to hear but it’s not personal. It’s an opinion that will change in three weeks. Everything that’s true now, in three weeks, will be false.”

Sesko is understood to be spending a lot of time at United’s Carrington training ground

He always arrived more than 90 minutes later than the normal meeting time of 09:45 and did not leave until 16:00, after most of his teammates.

United Resources remains confident that they made the right decision to sign Sesko, while at the same time sending Rasmus Hojlund on loan to Napoli, although the Old man found nine appearances for the Italian promoters.

“Ben was a childish kid, a control freak,” Amorim said.

“He wants to control everything – and he can’t control everything.

“He has more potential than I thought [but] We need to understand how he wants to play and also put in our ideas.

“I really enjoyed that. He will be our striker for a long time but he has these struggles and these explosions on the ride. That’s a normal thing in football.”
