Discrimination against black people is “baked into” the leadership, culture and management of the metropolitan police, an internal review has found.
The independent review analysis, written by Dr Shereen Daniels, examined 40 years of evidence on how racism affects black communities and staff.
Bononess Dereen Lawrence, mother of the murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence, says that while the report is welcome, I don’t know anymore”.
Metropolitan Police Commission Sir Markeling Linley described the report as “Strong”, adding that this additional systemic, structural change is necessary “.
The review, which was filed from the Consulcancy Hr again, concluded that the dark-skinned ones were found to be “marked as competitive” while the lighter-skinned employees.
Dr Shereen Daniels says that systemic racism is “not a matter of understanding”, adding that “real accountability starts with humility”.
“The same systems that perpetuate racial harm against black people also perpetuate other forms of harm. Dealing with it is not an act of rescue for safety, fairness for all,” said D Daniels.
Bononess Lawrence said that discrimination “must be recognized, accepted and faced by those who meet”, adding that racism is the reason “the police failed that” his killers failed “.
He added: “The police need to stop telling us that change will come while we continue to suffer. That change needs to happen now.”
Imran Kc KC said the report’s conclusions were “little surprising”, adding that Sir Mark Rowley should have resigned if he did not “acknowledge, acknowledge and accept” its findings.
He added: “This report brings down the alarming clarity that the time for talk is over, that promises to change can no longer be believed or trusted.”
The report is the latest to highlight racism within Britain’s largest police force, after the murder of Sarah Everard – it concluded that the favored roof of the house, had nothing to do with the arrival of the opposite.
Reviews conducted decades ago criticized the discrimination within the met – including the 1999 Macpherson report called Strength of Strength “after the termination of the case of Stephen Lawrence.

After the publication of the latest report, Sir Mark Rowley said: “London is an incredibly global city, and the MET will certainly deliver on the acceptance of consent if it is inclusive and anti-racist.”
