The Prince of Wales revealed the five winners of this year’s world championship, calling them an “inspiration that gives us courage”.

Prince William said that their work is “It is possible that progress is possible” during Wednesday night’s Awards at Rio de Janeiro’s Museum of tomorrow.

The winners include a project for the creation of the Atlantic Ocean Finance in South America and a global initiative of the marine agreement aimed at preserving marine life.

Brazil’s Football Football Cafu, Olympic Gnmnast Rebeca Andradue and former formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel are among the award presentels.

Performances from Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mende and Brazilian Queen of Pop Antta also got the heavy lifting.

The Earth Prize supports Eco-friendly projects from around the world, and each year each of the five winners with a £1m grant to improve the global climate.

Hosted by the Award-Winning Brazilian Broadcaster Luciano Huck, the awards ceremony was directed by Prince William, the president of the prize land.

“When I established the land prize of 2020, we had a 10-year goal: to make this the decade in which we change our world,” he told those present.

“We design to solve environmental issues and make real, lasting changes that protect life on earth.”

There are five lands or purposes: protection and restoration of nature; Our air is clean; Changing our oceans; Build a world without waste; and fix our climate.

The future king committed himself to it for 10 years, with Rio marking the halfway point for the effort.

This year saw nearly 2,500 nominees submitted from 72 countries. From them, 15 finalists were selected, from which five winners came.

  • Protect and restore the environment: Re.Green, in Brazil, makes the protection of one of the most important ecosystems in the world, the Atlantic forest, financially viable
  • Our air is clean: The city of Bogotá, shows how public policy can lead to sustainable change, through clean air zones and regeneration of degraded areas in Colombia
  • Changing our Oceans: The High Seas Treaty is a global initiative that will set clear measures to preserve marine life, among other things, and will continue from January 2026
  • Building a world without waste: Lagos Fashion Week, in Nigeria, helps the industry, that every Designer wants to show that they must show their commitment to sustainable practice
  • Fix our climate: The fellowship is dedicated to helping vulnerable communities in Bangladesh for a number of things from access to public services, health, education and preparedness for natural disasters.

Referring to the winners as “saints”, Prince William called the ground “Mission driven by the extraordinary time we have tonight”.

“These winners are proof that the spirit of collective action born here in Rio continues to be stronger, more determined, and more urgent than ever.

“Their 2030 goal is very ambitious – but their impact so far, their plans in place and their tenacity fuel my optimism.”

Earlier in the day, Prince William met the 15 finalists in a visit to the Christ the Redeemer Statue, where he had a photo in the same place as his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, 34 years ago.

But most of the Prince’s five-day visit to Brazil focused on the climate and the environment.

On Tuesday, he criticized criminals for their involvement in the Amazon Rainforest during a speech at the United Wildlife Conference.

He also traveled to the small island of Paqueta, where he met the locals, learned about mangrove preservation and planted Saplings.

On Thursday, he will travel to Belem in the Amazon Rainforest, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech at Cop30, the UN’s annual climate meeting.
