Dallas Cowboys Defensive Lineman Marshawn Speland has died at the age of 24.
Troftland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.
He had his first touchdown in Tuesday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals when he caught a blocked punt.
“Marshawn is a beloved teammate and member of our organization,” the Dallas Cowboys said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Marshawn along with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Three of Three was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick in the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said he was “heartbroken” for passing on a player who “poured his heart out” at every moment.
“I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid in Western Michigan with a dream to be a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys,” Perzley said.
The NFL said it was “deeply saddened”.
