Astrid: “Without a doubt, without Stephen, I would have been seriously injured.”

A teenager, who was riding the train near Huntingdon when a man began to attack passengers with a Saturday, without his life “without involving the passenger Stepaner Crean.

This week Mr Crean said he tackled the attacker who was wielding a large knife to give others time to escape.

Now, 19-year-old astruD, who did not want to give his last name, told the BBC he believes his actions saved him from injury or worse.

The teenager, who was alone, said that he started running in the carriage while others passed by, shouting that someone had a knife and threw stones at people.

“I saw the Buffet Car was almost perfect, but I managed to get in there as the last person,” Astrid said. “Then Stephen Crean put himself in front of me, between myself and the attacker, and then he tried to reason with him somehow.

“The attacker showed his knife, showed his weapon and Stephen Crean threw himself at the attacker so that I had a high attack in the house that I was injured that the door was injured. I witnessed Stephen Crean and I did not see him after that.”

There is no doubt about his actions, that he is a hero. “I think without a doubt, without Stephen, I would have been seriously injured, as well as a lot of people in that buffet car,” he said.

“My message to him is that I’m very grateful for his actions because my life would have been so different. I’m so lucky to be going around and around.”

Mr Crean told the BBC on Monday how he had been pelted in the hand, back and forth, refusing to allow everyone who had joined the buffet car to safety.

He said: “That door has not been closed behind me because I can still see [a passenger] struggle to close it. So I know I’m not walking away from it. “

AstrId said he pulled on the door of the buffet car to try and close it and the other passengers inside held the door while others called the police.

Everyone in the buffet car was in “a state of conversion”, he said as he praised Mr Crean’s composure at the moment.

“A lot of people pretend they can, or if they can take the attacker,” Astrid said. “But if you’re brave enough in that moment and it’s easier said than done.

“The truth is that Esteban had the courage when he alone separated the second decision to be made.”

‘proud’

The BBC told a tearful Mr Crean about AstrID’s message to him. “You feel proud of it. That’s what made my life. I’m just happy right now. That’s the best news I’ve ever had, and that’s what I do, and that’s what I do, to protect.”

Now facing an operation on his fingers that were cut by the attacker while he was facing him.

An online fund raised more than £50,000 for him including donations from Nottingham Forest Football Club which he gave back.

The LNer train traveled from Doncaster to London King’s Cross and stopped at Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, just before 20:00 GMT on Saturday.

Anthony Williams, 32, is charged with 11 counts of attempted murder, including of Mr. Crean, two counts of a bladed article and one count of actual bodily harm.

One of the attempted murders recounted relates to a separate incident.
