A man who killed a passerby when he drove his car into a large crowd at his sister’s wedding reception has been jailed for his murder.
Hassan Jhangur, 25, killed Chris Marriott, 46, when he deliberately grabbed his Ibiza seat in the group’s Burngreave, Sheffield, in December 2023.
“Good Samaritan” Mr Marriott, who stopped to help when Jhangur collapsed in an earlier Brawl, died at the scene while four others were seriously injured.
In a statement read out in court on Thursday, Mr Marriott’s wife of 16 years, Broony, described her husband as “true, kind and his two sons” for the rest of our lives”.
Jailing him at Sheffield Crown Court for a minimum term of 26 years, Mr Justice Morris “resulted in the death of Mr Marriots and life consequences for many others.
