RabaeThree weeks after the spectacular theft of the Louvre jewel, the museum has been heavily criticized for negligence.
The Court of Auditors Report, Taken before the Heist, found that for many years the administrators wanted to invest in new artworks and displays instead of basic maintenance and protection.
“Don’t make one ask: the theft of crown jewels is a rounding wake-up call,” said court president Pierrevici.
In broad daylight on Sunday 19 October, thieves broke into the first anollo gallery of the louvre. Using an angle to open the display cases, the gang made €88m (£78m) of gems that were once aligned to the 19th century.
Findings from the years 2018 to 2024, the report says, are visible and attractive in the improvement of installation and repair in the fields of safety and security.
During the period under study, it was found that the museum spent € 105.4m on the purchase of new artworks and € 63.5m on exhibition areas.
But at the same time it only spent € 26.7M on maintenance activities and € 59.5m on the restoration of the palace building.
The findings of other criticisms, such as the source of the minister of culture Rachida Dati who said that the managers have “overestimated” the dangers of interfering with the museum.
One of the leading experts in French art, Dykner Rykner also accused the museum of preferring to spend it “many basic protections of what it is.
One possible casualty is the ambitious new Renaiss project at the Louvre that was launched with fanfare earlier this year by President Emmanuel Macron and Director of the Museuel, Laurence Des Cars.
The plan includes a new entrance at the east end of the Louvre, and the excavation of new exhibition spaces including a separate gallery for the Mona Lisa.

Louvre museumBut the Court of Auditors found that the project “was carried out without a proper study – neither technical and architectural preasibility (or) financial assessments”.
The expected cost has already reached €1.15bn, it said, compared to the €700m announced in January.
In its response, the Louvre said it accepted most of the court’s recommendations, but believed the court did not fully understand everything it had done – especially on security.
“When it comes to the largest and most visited museum in the world, the only balanced judgment is one that looks at the long term,” it said.
While it was revealed that one of the suspected thieves, named Abdudoye N, 39, for many years was considered a local hero in the amervillier neighborhood of Motavern Feats on the motorcycle.
Go to the nickname Passing bitumenhe often posts videos of himself performing skills on a motocross bike – such as wheelies on Parisian landmarks such as the Trocadero.
Only a few of his videos show him performing body building gymnastics.
Abdolaaye n used to be a guard at the Center Pompidou in Paris, an arts center that houses a European museum.
He has several convictions for traffic and other offenses, but none related to organized crime.
According to the French media, his profile – and that of the other main suspects Ayed G – suggests that they could be petty criminals who could be paid by a rich third party.
Two other people are in custody.
They are a man who is suspected of being one of the two waiting for the getaway motorbikes on the street outside the louvre; and his wife, who face a possible conspiracy charge.
The fourth person in the search area – as well as the gems.
According to the newspaper Le Parisien, citing investigators, Abdolaaye n and Ayed G made some surprising statements under interrogation.
Abduhaye n apparently did not know that he was separated from the Louvre, he just thought that the museum was in the area around the famous glass factory, while the Ayed G disappeared that it was a Sunday.
Actually it is open and many visitors.
