Liberal politicians outside the US are watching the election of Zohran Mamdani with interest in New York with interest in how to resist the lessons of populism around the world.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, thanked his contemporary in the US. “New Yorkers faced a clear choice, between hope and fear, and as we saw in London, hope won,” he wrote.

Khan is also the first Muslim mayor of his city and has attracted similar ire from Donald Trump. Unlike Mamdani, however, Khan is a career politician rather than a novice.

Another Labor politician, MP Luke Charters, said Mamdani’s Mamanding “how we can defeat the judicial population here in the UK: DIE NOT ESSENTIAL SOLUTIONS,. The main tactic of Mamdani’s campaign is to advance to make New York more affordable.

Jeremy Corbyn, the former Labor leader who sits as an independent MP, said Mamdani who succeeded in rejecting “a grassroots campaignwhich is founded on the radical idea that everyone deserves to live in dignity”.

Mamdani, 34, was born in Uganda to Indian parents, moved to New York with her family at the age of seven and became a US citizen in 2018.

Times of India understand that Mamdani quotes India’s first Prime Minister, Jawadlal Nehruin his victory speech, saying: “In a moment will come, but rarely in history, when we emerge from the old new.”

Mamdani celebrated his victory in the same way he camped, the newspaper said: “Strong, unyielding Indian.”

There was some disappointment in Israel, which Mamdani accused of carrying out a genocide – a position rejected by the Israeli government but shared by scholarly experts.

“New York will never be the same again,” wrote Amichai Chikli, Israel’s minister of Diaspora Affairs. “The town is walking, eyes open, in the depths where London has been ants.”

Thickness a Millions of Jews Live in and around New York City, the largest Jewish population of a city outside of Israel. Mamdani found the Jewish community a key part of his campaign and was a vocal opponent of antisemontism. He has faced Islamophobia from democrats and Republican politicians.

In his victory speech, Mamdani told cheering supporters:

Trump made an 11th hour intervention in the election race on Tuesday as a “Harete Hater” to all the Social Jews who voted for him as “stupid”.

A CNN poll Recommended Mamdani may have won as many as one in three Jewish votes.
