Supporters began arriving and gathering at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater around 9pm ET, when the New York polls closed. Many attendees were seen wearing Mamdani Campaign Mercarnise such as baseball caps, beanies and T-shirts.
Before the results were rolled out, a DJ was on stage playing dance music for the crowd while the drinks were flowing and the anticipation was building. Hope – one of the central themes of Mamdani’s campaign – filled the room throughout the night, with supporters sharing their optimism the night before the race was called.
James Davis, whose labor union, PSC / Cuny, supports Mamdani, said he is “hopeful” and “confident”.
Ibrahim Ahmed, 45, said he was motivated to volunteer for Mamdani’s campaign because he believed Mamdani was “speaking the language that New York wants to hear today”. Awaiting the results, Ahmed said he felt “positive tonight”.

When the screens inside the venue flashed the news of Mamdani’s victory around 9.35PM ET, the theater went wild.
Supporters screamed, danced, hugged and texted the moment on their phones.

For Norman Frazier, 73, the time is one he said he “will not forget as long as I live”.
“I got a story to tell my grandparents, my many grandchildren. I’m blessed to be here today and to see it here,” a born and bred New Yorker who supports Mamdani’s campaign, said. “I’m lost for words.”
Jasmine Gripper, who works with families in New York, celebrated the victory and said she felt “excited and proud of what we have achieved”.

Mamdani offered a final note about his biggest competitor, Cuomo: “My friends, we only focus on politicians in politics. We only wish for Politics in Politicians. We only wish for Politics in Politicians. We only prepare politicians.
Mamdani listed his promises, which included universal child care, fast and free buses, renovating rental units for people who rent units and much more to be applauded.
In perhaps the most inflammatory part of his speech, Mamdani called Donald Trump by name to declare that he is ready to face the President of the President in New York.
“So, if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This is not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one. The first prospective mayor of New York City ended his speech on a low note, by putting his hand over his heart and thanking everyone around him.
“This power is yours,” he told the crowd, before joining his parents and wife. “The city is yours.”
