The father of Axel Rudakubaa told the inquiry into the 2024 Southport attack that his failure to deal with his son’s violent behavior had “catastrophic consequences, which I think are good”.
Alphonse Rudakubana said that he was “very afraid” of his son and avoided talking to him, which means that he did not do the Internet activity of the Teenager. His son regularly searches online for violent material and continues to order a stockpile of weapons.
“The combination of fear and the desire to avoid confrontation by not questioning his activities and accepting his punishments idly will keep a parent in check,” said a written statement. “It has ramifications that I’m amazed at.”
Giving evidence to the Liverpool Town Hall inquiry via video link on Wednesday, Alphonse Rudakubaa said in his “part of his son, that he found his girls, that he found his young girls in a young girls killed in a Taylor Swift holiday club.
Alphonse Rudakubana has also often criticized other hearing agencies, accusing teachers of unfairly singling out Axel Rudakisma, who keep a school “like a prison”.
The inquiry also heard that the parents of Alex Rudakubana found knives packaging minutes of the attack within more than two years – however, they failed to call the police.
Days earlier, Alphonse Rudakubana stopped his son from returning to his former school where he was thought to be planning to attack the students against whom he was happy”.
Axel Rudakaban’s brother, Dion Rudakubana, said he was “amazed” by his younger brother who was alone in the 17th year and at first feared that he might plan to attack someone.
However, he said that this concern was “quickly covered” by his parents, who thought he was walking: “This is a positive step.”
Dion Rudakubaa said that his mother went back to bed to recover from a night shift despite finding a new role to change and stop Axel Rudakabanana traveling from home.
Axel Rudakuba in Axel who was not in school to carry a knife, and two years ago the police he intended a blade on a bus. His family has kept their kitchen knives since 2019, the inquiry heard.
Dion Rudakubaa said he believed his brother had not left home without age since 17 March 2022, when he was reported missing by his parents and found by police officers carrying a knife on a bus. Alex Rudakubaana told the officers in the area that he intended to kill someone so that he could delete his Social Media profiles.

In early 2024, Alphonse Rudakubaa said that his son’s behavior at home had become “very scary”. He recalled an incident where the teenager poured oil on his father’s head and threatened to kill him if he left Axel Rudakapan from the house, telling him: “It will be a week [but] Trust me, I will kill you. “
He told the question: “I lost control of [Axel]. I have no authority over him as a father. He asked everything about me – the way I spoke, why I was at home, my mother should be at home, I should be working.
“I was put down – he called me Alphonse because I didn’t deserve ‘Dad’ – someone who fed him access to whatever he wanted to watch online.”
He said that no one knows that Alex Rudakubana watches extreme violence, antisemolic material, anti-Islamic images: “There is another side to him that I do not know.”
Previously, Dion Rudakubaa said that he did not know why his brother targeted young women but it could be that “I think that it is something that is not good along the lines.
Detectives have not established a clear motive for why the teenager killed three girls and beat 10 others at a summer club.
Dion Rudakubaa said that his younger brother got a lot of parcels in the living room, which he was not allowed to touch.
In written evidence, he said he was “concerned the parcels contained something bad” and told the inquiry that he suspected they could be a weapon or “definitely dangerous”.
However, he said this fear was “not overwhelming enough for me to go and say something”.
Asked by Richard Boyle, counsel for the inquiry, if it was “very dangerous” if the troubled teenager had weapons given his history of violence, Dion Rudakubaa said: “Yes [but] I don’t think there is an imminent threat to my life as a result of these boxes. “
Boyle asked if he had considered the threat to others. Dion Rudakubana replied: “No, I don’t think so, think about how lonely these moments are [of Axel Rudakubana being violent to others].
“I don’t run any risk of harming anyone outside of the house. It’s in the house [that] This is seen on a daily basis. “
Dion Rudakubaa said he returned from university on 26 July, three days before his father a “vague” reference to his brother “doing something bad” before.
Dion Rudakubaa said that he later found out that it was related to his younger brother who was stopped by his father from going in a taxi to attack students in Farmy, where he was excluded in 2019.
In his written statement, Dion Rudakubaa said his father seemed “scared” of the 17-year-old in the days before the attack, “which is unusual”.
He approached a friend on 26 July to say that his father had told him: “Your brother is dangerous, he could kill you.” He recounted the question: “I don’t think he directly said ‘He might kill you’ but indicated that there was a threat to life, and I felt that.”
