Claudia Sheinbaum, the president of Mexico, has been groped by a man as she mingled with citizens on the streets of Mexico City, raising questions about both the lack of presidential security and the level of sexual harassment faced by the country’s women.

As the man breaks down, Sirebaum can be seen smiling and saying, “Don’t worry.”

Commentators say the incident shows that no woman is immune to sexual harassment in Mexico.

But the incident also highlights the broader security risk Sheinbaum faces on the road, given his security detail was not clearly visible on video and it took seconds for anyone to intervene.
It comes days after Carlos Alberto Manzo, a popular mayor, was killed on the day of the dead celebrations in Uruonan, by a gunman who shot him seven times before killing himself.
In the months before Manzo Rodríguez reached out to Sheinbaum on social media for help to deal with criminal groups in the region.
Manzo Rodrígue is the latest official to be executed in Mexico, where 37 Candidates was killed in Trail Trail before the elections in June 2024, and one more municipal president has been killed since the start of Sheinbaum’s government on 1 October.
Although it is local authorities that are often targeted in Mexico, high-level officials are not exempt from danger.
In 1994, Presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta was shot at a rally in the border town of Tijuana. More recently, in 2020, the Jalisco Cartel tried to kill Harcía Harfuch, seizing his tent full of ammunition in the middle of Mexico City.
Sheinbaum himself a Security Swease Last year while campaigning in the state of Chiapas, when masked men stopped his car to ask him to talk about the violence in the state, before he moved.
Until now, Sirbaum has hidden the habit of his famous predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who mingled with the crowds and preferred a tighter security –
