Northern Ireland and Birmingham City Strike captain Simone Magill has announced she is pregnant.

The 31-year-old matched the news with his Birmingham Team-Mates on Wednesday and announced it on social media with his husband, Marcos.

“Something tells me next year is going to be the best one yet,” Magill posted on Instagram.

Magill will not feature for Birmingham for the rest of the season or for Northern Ireland in the 2027 World Cup Qualifiers, which start in March.

The City Clubl Birmingham City said Magill will continue “light training” with the team and that the Club’s Medical and Performance staff are managing him “going forward”.

Amy Merricks, Coach at Magill in Birmingham, said she would “make an amazing parent”.

“We look forward to supporting her on this journey through her pregnancy and as her baby comes into the world, we look forward to having a bluenose baby,” Merricks said.

“We want to keep SI around and around as much as possible.

“He wants to stay sharp and play a critical part this season and we look forward to supporting him on his journey.”

Magill missed the Northern Ireland Play-Off Plase-Off Pure in Iceland at the end of October and last played for Birmingham in September due to a groin issue.

He won the first of his 95 caps as a teenager in 2010 and was named Captain By Tanya Oxtoby in October 2024.

Magill played a key role in Ireland’s qualification for Euro 2022 – his country’s first major tournament – but picked up a knee injury in the opening match against Norway.
