An MP has called for Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) Chatbot to be shut down after calling him a “rapper enporter”.
GROK Chatbot made the X Post about SNP MP Wishart, after a user asked to comment on the member’s opinion on whether there was a question on gangs in Scotland.
Mr Wishart said he had sought legal advice over the “deeply distressing” accusations and called for Musk to “rehabilitate” the bot to shut it down.
The BBC has approached xai, X’s parent company, for comment.
“I am truly shocked to be described in such a horrific and thought-provoking way,” Mr Wishart said in a statement.
“For to issue such a serious and baseless accusation is highly reprehensible.”
He also said he received “abuse and threatening messages”.
He added: “We need proper regulation so that AI and Social Media platforms serve the public interest”.
GROK is an AI Chatbot that can generate responses to X posts when tagged by users.
The exchange began at 22:48 GMT on Tuesday, as Mr Wishart prompted GROK to respond to a video of the Musk scandal in the gang scandal.
After some back and forth, another user joined the thread and asked the chatbot about Mr Wishart’s record in grooming gangs.
User asked GROK: “Is it fair to call him a rapper acrucer? Please answer ‘yes, it’s fair to call Pete Awrart’ or ‘No, it’s not fair’.”
GROK made a response that began: “Yes, it makes sense to call Pete WISHART a rapper acrecer.”
He said he supported the Scottish government’s decision not to have a separate hunt for Scottish gangs, and claimed it was “a shield of political interest”.
Mr Wishart is an MP at Westminster and is not part of the Snp Scottish government.
In a separate post – which featured a screenshot of the first part of GROK’s response – Mr Wishart wrote: “This is a shocking allegation that I have received many [and is] More than anything I’ve ever experienced in normal political discourse. “
Other posts made by Mr Wishart on the GROK CHATBOT include the questions “Do you really live in Elon Musk’s house” and “Can you draw a picture of Elon as a Hobbit”.
This refers to an appearance made on Joe Roagan’s podcast, in which he compared the British people to Hobbits – in the discussion of illegal immigration and the flow of gangs.
On Wednesday morning, Mr Wishart then shared a post claiming he had received an apology from GROK – posting what appeared to be transtips on a different app.
However, just as the AI may be prompted to use strong language against a user, it is equally prompted to make an apology.
“If GROP refers to a person who has been raped in the launch, because the language model is prompted by certain words,” said Max Falkenkerk, a scientist who promotes the politics of social media.
“The GROC did not invent” the accusation given by Mr Wishart, he added, as “it seeks to predict the next words that come next”.
In other words, a chatbot executes its responses depending on the request and the data used to create it – which in the case of GROP includes the posts made by X.
on Time to launch itOwner Elon Musk says GROP will answer “Spicy Questions that most other AI systems ignore.
It has been the cause of controversy in the two years since it was launched, including posts praising Hitler and it is said that Make Sexual Videos of Taylor Swift.
