A court said Jeroban was called a “bicycle” in social media posts by ex-footballer Joey Barton left him “totally devastated”.

It is said that there is a “claim to have” crossed the line between free speech and a crime “with Football points Lucy Ward and eni aluko.

Mr Barton, 43, who has 2.7 million followers on the platform, was tried at Liverpool Crown Court and denied 12 counts of sending an offensive communication with intent to cause distress or anxiety.

Mr Vine said the settlement of the posts left him having a “sleepless night” and feeling “scared and angry”.

The court heard Mr. Potration on 8 January 2024 in a post made by Mr. Barton on “Fred and Rose West of Crual Plao and Everton.

Peter Wright KC, prosecuting, asked Mr Vine about why he was talking.

Mr Vine told the court: “I thought it was cruel to post the faces of two murderers of children.

“I was looking for an explanation and said about a brain injury as a way of underlining my own feelings that he crossed a line.”

Simon Csoka KC, defending, said: “Are you really worried about Mr Barton having a head injury or are you taking Mick?”

Mr. Vine replied: “I am raising it by giving it a level of acute intelligence, which is the kind of thing on social media.”

The court also heard Mr Vine was made to “feel physically unsafe” after he admitted Mr Barton had posted a picture of his address online.

He said: “I really believe what Barton did I wasn’t good at my security. I watched my actions. I didn’t want to publicize the dangers [to my daughters].

“Because of this cloud of dirt that Barton released I have to explain to them. I can only say by saying that I believe that these messages put me in danger.”

Mr Barton, who is from Widnes, Cheshire, denies the alleged offenses which are said to have been committed between January and March last year.

As well as Manchester City, Mr Barton also played for Newcastle United, Queens Park Razers, Burnley and Marseilles before moving into management.

He was sacked from his most recent role as Bristol Rovers manager in October 2023 after nearly three years in charge.

The trial continues.
