A hunter who spent almost three weeks lost in the snowyyyy California Kike that he was able to save the quit to quit ‘even if you sit here and die “.
The Amazing Story of Survival Centers on Ron Dailey, who authorities say went missing in the Sierra National Forest on a Fresno Hunting Traving trip on October 13.
Investigators said Dailey, a resident of the California City of Selma, intended to return home that night. However, in the comments reported on KTLA, Kfsn and CBS Los Angeleshe remembers losing his bears in his truck and ending up in a place where off-road vehicles have to navigate.
Dailey’s pickup truck then collapsed while he was at an altitude of over 10,000ft, leaving him there with about two weeks’ worth of food and water. In addition, a severe snowstorm hit the area the first night he disappeared, prompting Dailey to conclude: “Oh man – I’m in trouble.”
Rescue teams from several California counties began searching for Dailey when his family realized he didn’t make it home and officials reported him missing. He steered his truck, unsure if he would survive long enough for rescuers to find him.
Dailey said she relied on her religious faith to carry her through moments of doubt, especially when she ran out of food.
“It’s me and God every night,” Daley often told CBS.
Representing KFSN, Dailey said it eventually dawned on him that “you’re either going to try to walk or you’re going to sit here and die”.
His relentless march towards what he hopes is safety sees him lose his phone and fall several times. Dailey also remembers having to sit down every 20 to 100 yards, given the thin air at that altitude.
After he had walked a dozen miles or so, on 1 November, a group of fellow hunters met Dailey on the trail they were on. They brought him to safety and notified the authorities that they had found the man who had been missing for 20 days.
Members of a search party located Daveyey’s truck – with a broken back window – the next day. KTLA reports that the group does not believe Dailey will survive as long as he is in the pickup.
In a statement confirming Daley’s rescue, the local sheriff’s office As It could not release further details about his ordeal until he was interviewed.
However, in a statement recorded by her daughter while she was in the hospital and later shared with KFSN, Dailey said the walk she was on proved to be “the hardest … of my life”.
“I’m still upset,” Dailey told CBS. “If it wasn’t for the Lord, I wouldn’t be here.”
