Downman has been coaching Arsenal’s first-team squad since he was 14 – joining the first team for a warm-up camp in Dubai in January 2024.
Supporters have been calling for the Englishman to get his chance in the second half of last season as Arteta lacks attacking options with several key players.
Olman is no stranger to setting records, becoming the youngest scorer at the Under-17s European Championship when representing England in May.
Last month, he also became the youngest goalscorer for England Under-19.
So it is not surprising that he has emerged as part of Arteta’s plans this term as the gunners compete for the success of the four fruits.
Having a player with so much promise competing in Senior Football means Arsenal are putting the steps in place for career development.
This includes where he has changed, a strong focus on his education and also ensures that a boy is in a mature place supported by his team-mates.
Arteta and the club have been careful in how they handle Downman’s progress.
After his debut in a 5-0 win against LEEDS on 23 August, Arteta said that they have gathered in some situations, whether in the first team or not being scouted in the squad.
